Happy New Year, hoping you all had a good time and looking forward to spending sometime at King’s Gardens in 2017.
What a great year 2016 was for the Gardens, once again there were a number of fantastic events, the outdoor cinemas seem to go down a real treat and ending our year with the amazing, heart-warming film ‘ It’s a Wonderful Life’ just topped it off .
The Green Machine as always have started the school term with fantastic projects, creating giant poppies for Remembrance Day and then producing fantastic art work for the art boxes illustrating Christmas around the world. The enthusiasm the pupils show is fantastic, working with them gets me excited and I am always amazed by their ideas and dedication to what they do. I am looking forward to a few more projects in 2017, more environmental projects on their way.
The Friends of King’s Gardens continue to work hard, from keeping the Community Garden bright and beautiful, organising and supporting events, promoting the Gardens though Facebook, Twitter and the local press, to taking guided walks and being eyes and ears to help keep the Gardens a safe and attractive place to visit. 2016 saw the Friends become a registered charity, well done.
Volunteering is so important and King’s Gardens would benefit greatly with more peoples support. If you are interested in becoming a friend or you fancy doing some gardening, taking guided walks, welcoming people at the new visitor centre or helping with events please, please do get in touch.
A number of events are planned for 2017, please take a look at our ‘what’s on page’.
