A fantastic evening event is being organised for Saturday 1st August, Proms in the Park, Venetian Nights Spectacular.
Why such an event? Pre Worlds War ll Venetain Nights were held on the lake at King's Gardens. The Venetian Bridge was decked with fairy lights, gondolas sailed around the lake and all those taking part dressed up; music and singing filled the air.
Take a look at this picture, a copy of a painting by Fortunino Matania.
The Proms in the Park Venetian Spectacular is a moden twist on this old event. I hope you are excited!
On Saturday 1st August Magull Wind Orchestra are going to be playing classic music to well known theme tunes from TV, film and Disney. Filling the gardens with exquisite sound for all to enjoy. To make it into a venetian spectacular those attending are encouraged to dress with the venetian nights in mind. Though this is not a mandate I hope you do decide to participate.
To support the venetian aspect of the evening there are a few things happenig earlier in the day. At the Atkinson 1-3 there is a family workshop where you will be able to see Fortunino's painitng and make your own costume for the evening and venetain mask making taking place in the foyer throughout the afternoon. This will be followed by a parade at 7pm from the Atkinson to King's Gardens (via Scarisbrick Avenue) for the start of the Proms in the Park.
This event is going to be wonderful and charming and O so magnificnet especially if you, your friends and family are there to enjoy.
